Crypto Trading for Beginners: A Safe Starting Plan (UAE Edition)
Crypto markets run 24/7, move fast and attract scams. A careful start matters more than finding the perfect coin. This plan is written for beginners, with notes for people in the UAE.
1. Choose a regulated platform
In the UAE, virtual assets are regulated, for example by VARA in Dubai and by the SCA and ADGM's FSRA in other jurisdictions. Prefer platforms licensed in your jurisdiction, and check the regulator's public register yourself rather than trusting adverts.
2. Secure your accounts
- Use a unique password and an authenticator app (not SMS) for two-factor login
- Never share recovery phrases; no real support agent will ever ask for one
- Be suspicious of "guaranteed returns", trading groups and copy-trading offers on WhatsApp or Telegram
3. Start with spot and DCA
Buying and holding (spot) means you cannot lose more than you put in. Leverage and futures can wipe out a position in minutes. Spend your first months with DCA and small spot trades while you learn.
4. Learn one strategy properly
Pick one approach, such as trend-following with moving averages or swing trading support and resistance, and paper-trade or trade tiny sizes until you have 20-30 trades logged.
5. Manage risk from day one
Risk at most 1% of your trading money per trade, use stops, and keep the bulk of your savings outside crypto.
Common mistakes
- Starting with leverage
- Buying coins promoted by influencers
- Keeping large balances on unregulated exchanges
- Ignoring tax and record-keeping
